The Inconvenient Bag is a Designer Environmentally-Friendly Grocery/All-Purpose Bag. The bags are custom made from natural cotton canvas and all printing and dyes are done in an environmentally correct (and non-toxic) manner. We are always looking into new materials, styles and sizes.

Our canvas is durable and sewn in the highest quality which allows the bag to hold up to 45 pounds of groceries! (or whatever else you wish to put inside, i.e., books, files, paperwork, candy, etc.)

Furthermore, the bag is folded and patterned after the traditional brown paper bag in the store, so it fits in the bag person’s rack (ease of use). We are proud to say that the entire bag is made, designed, sewn, etc. in California, more specifically, Los Angeles and Orange County (no outsourcing of manufacturing or materials).

Many other bags may be reusable but are not environmentally correct (man made poly- materials, thicker plastic, non-biodegradable, etc. eco-contradictions), and many other reusable bags are not designer and are merely store ads (eco-ugly!). Our bags are both totally environmentally correct (biodegradable, natural, non-toxic, cotton, etc.) and fashionable/stylish (eco-cool!).

We hope that our designs and artwork encourage people to want to use our bags (eco-voluntarily). Instead of forcing people to use reusable bags, we feel that it is a better approach to design a bag that people would want to use (eco-nice). In this way, we hope to attract consumers who do not care or do not know of environmental issues to start being a part of the solution (eco-new friends).

Many bags cost in the hundreds, some are less than $1.00 (eco-cheap), we feel ours is affordable and want to offer consumers a nice, high quality, USA-made bag that is universal in nature while being designed with creative artwork (eco-chic!). Finally, much thought has gone into the bag. Instead of going the cost-efficient route, we decided to go the eco-efficient. For example, producing the bag overseas or in another country may have been less expensive. However, the environmental standards would be hard to monitor and shipping the products to American ports would have used energy, gas, etc. (that could be saved).

It has been tricky in producing the bag in an environmentally-correct manner, but with some creativity and problem-solving, we find that just about anything can be done in an environmentally-correct way (just takes a little thinking and resolve).

There are many ways to create awareness for important environmental issues (people may demonstrate, debate, write, speak, etc.). We have decided to make a sub-class of bags within each Inconvenient Bag category, i.e., The Even More Inconvenient Bag, that portrays an issue close to our hearts.

These bags, or Eco-Issue Bags will display environmental issues with a positive spin, showing the hope and change we see in the future. Enjoy these bags knowing that you are not only helping our environment by limiting your use of paper or plastic bags, but also that you are making a statement that you care about a particular issue and want to be part of the solution.
